Mary Morrison is originally from the Isle of Harris, and has lived in the Scottish Borders since 2003. She worked for many years as an animation producer and teacher, and has also worked in rural tourism and the arts since graduating with a joint MA from Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh University in 1991.
Mary is a practicing visual artist, with a WASPS Studio in Selkirk, and exhibits regularly – both in Scotland and internationally. The WASPS Artists’ Studios in Selkirk house 13 artists in a former textile mill, and opens to the public once a year in October for a lively ‘Open Studios’ experience.
Mary currently works part time with Live Borders managing the Creative Arts Business Network (CABN) project which supports the professional creative sector as well as a range of organisations developing cultural projects in the Borders. CABN is a vibrant network, and Mary is ideally placed to be a representative on the SBTP for the creative sector, with an understanding of what is happening on the ground as well as at strategic level, which she can feed into meetings.
